up to the Massachusetts SCRABBLE® Clubs
This club started meeting in August, 2007 and then became an official NASPA club in December, 2007 This club meets Mondays (excluding only Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve) at the Lilly Library, 19 Meadow St. in Florence, MA 01062. Even if the library is closed on other Monday holidays, they will still open the room for the club, and playing can be past the usual library closing time of 5 p.m. Official start time is 4:30 p.m. Play usually continues until at least 9 p.m., often finishing later than 11:00 p.m. in the clean and well-lit Program/Community Room at the front of (Florence is a village of Northampton.) Players need not be present at the start time and are welcome to walk at any point in the evening for as many or as few games as they choose. Fun is the highest priority of the club.
The club uses the NWL2023 lexicon for acceptable words by default. Scrabble clubs in the Boston area have chosen to use the WOW2024 lexicon. Some players a this Northampton Club prefer to use the CSW2022 lexicon.
The club does not provide refreshments, but players may purchase food and drink at multiple restaurants in walking distance or bring their own from home. The optional donation is $1.00 per session, from which first-time attendees are exempt.
