to Boston Area MA and Southern NH Badminton Clubs

Waltham, MA Badminton Club

Special Notices

This club has changed to two days of play. Saturday play continues to be 3:00 to 6 p.m. As of 20-Sep-09, there is also Sunday play on many Sundays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

There are three Saturdays when the play hours are shifted later:

The fee for Saturday play remains at $8. The fee for Sundays will be $5.

As the extra playing times are being added, this club will be running adult clinics and junior training. This will impact the availability of one or two of the three courts being used for general play. On Saturdays one court is dedicated to clinics and training, so only two courts are available for general play. On Sundays, general play is limited to one or two courts, depending on what training is being done. Direct any questions to Tom Yang.

This is not a club for beginners.

Please park according to the directions below. The school has complained about how some of the club members have not been following the parking rules. There have also been complaints about some members driving too fast on the school grounds.

These are the Saturdays which are scheduled through August, 2010, and Sundays are shown through the end of 2009:

Since mid-June of 2003, this club meets at a gym on the campus of the Chapel Hill - Chauncy Hall School (CHCH) located at 785 Beaver Street in Waltham. The hours are currently 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Sunday play, which began 20-Sep-09, has hours 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The doors are opened about 10 minutes before the start time to allow for time to set up the nets, and they are locked up about 15 minutes after the ending time.

The gym has 3 courts, and the gym quality is high. The floor was new in 2003 and has very clear yellow badminton lines. The ceilings are high, and the lighting is good. There is plenty of space outside of the courts, so you can warm up there. There is no air conditioning. Players tend to range from about tournament level A through D. This is not a club for beginners. Players are expected to bring their own racquets and feathered birds; the club does not provide birds.

The person to contact with questions is organizer and player Tom Yang at ShowJean@verizon.net. Tom maintains an e-mail notification list for this club, so if you would like to subscribe, please contact him.

The locations of the parking lots and the gym are shown in a drawing included below. The gym is in a long brown building with a green roof, named the Claude F. Machen Student Center. Enter at the right end of the building, turn right then left, and walk straight to the gym.
