Duxbury, MA Badminton Club

The following info is from last year. The club organizers have not yet updated me with information about the 2007-2008 season. When they do, I will be happy to maintain this page with correct and current descriptions. In early May, 2008, I was informed the club is still operating and plans to continue next Fall.

The 2006-2007 season began 29-Oct-06.

This club meets most Sundays from mid- to late-October through late March or early April at the lower gym of the Duxbury Middle School on St. Georges Street. The sessions are now from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., later by one hour than in recent years. They tend to be unaffected by school holidays, but it is wise to call or e-mail ahead to check that they are indeed playing.

There is room for four courts, but just two courts are usually set up. This club is not limited to adults. There are occasionally some youngsters playing. There is a large range of playing abilities, so this is a good club to attend as a beginner.

The club provides feathered birds. These are covered by dues of $10 per visit, except one's first visit is free. Regular attendees are also asked for a $30 seasonal fee; the club is considering raising this to perhaps $50, depending upon attendance, to cover the higher fees they are now incurring.

Directions to the Club

• Take Route 3 South to exit 11, "Route 14". At the end of the ramp, go right, towards the East.
  
  
• At about 0.75 miles there is a fork; stay on Route 14, bearing right.
  
  
• After about a mile you get to a light at Route 3A - keep going straight (but Route 14 ends there).
  
  
• Then go down a hill, pass through a little village, go up a hill and then get to town buildings. On the right is a town pool, library, and Middle School. On the left there is the High School.
  
  
• Turn RIGHT into the Middle School driveway. Go to the left behind the school, and you will see three unmarked doors to the gym separated by several feet on one wall. Go into the right door.
