Although it was first announced that there would be play on 4-May-08, this has been corrected on 18-Apr-08 - there will be NO play on 4-May-08.

June 8 has been added to the schedule.

As it did last season, this club is meeting for the 2007-2008 season at the John Glenn Middle School in Bedford due to construction at the high school. The gym has been taped with two courts, and there is some empty space which can be used for warm-up and practice.

Since September, 2002, the Bedford High School in Bedford, MA hosts a special Chinese Sunday school during the academic year. During the 2007-2008 school year, it will be held again at Bedford's John Glenn Middle School at 99 McMahon Rd., since there is construction at the high school. As part of this arrangement, a gym is available for badminton on many Sundays during the school year from 9:20 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.

Although the gym at the high school has 4 courts with painted lines, and the ceiling is quite high. Only two courts with taped lines are available at the Middle School. Players tend to range from about tournament level A through D. Although the Sunday school has a Chinese orientation, the badminton sessions are open to the general public. This club used to be limited to high-level players, but that rule was retracted during the 2004-2005 season, and beginners are indeed welcome here. Beginners are discouraged from playing at the related Waltham Club on Saturdays.

The fee is $6 per visit. Players are expected to bring feathered birds; the club does not provide birds.

Tom is maintaining an e-mail notification list for this club, so if you would like to subscribe, please contact him. Another contact person is player Jan-hon Su at JSu01854@yahoo.com, who assists in running this group, especially during sessions. Tom also runs the group which plays in Waltham on Saturdays throughout the entire year.

Directions to the Club

• Take Route I-95/Route 128 to Exit 31B, "Bedford - Routes 4 and 225".
  
• Go through 3 sets of traffic signals - at this point you are in Bedford Center.
  
• Take a left turn at the CVS Pharmacy on Loomis St.
  
• Go straight at the STOP sign onto Railroad Ave., passing the lumber yard and bus depot.
  
• Follow Railroad Ave. up to the back parking lot of the school.
  
• You can see a floor plan of the school. Included on the plan are alternate directions from Concord Center.
