to Boston Area MA and Southern NH Badminton Clubs
This club plays at the Acton Junior High School gym from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. most Fridays during the school year. During the winter season, the hours are shifted to 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. On a Friday when there is no school, there is no session.
There are six courts, and the school allows a maximum enrollment of 24 players on a first come first served basis. Four courts of the six courts have no obstructions and are suitable for doubles games. The other two courts are for warmup and practice only, since they do have some obstructions. Beginners are welcome and can get some basic coaching advice.
The group is organized as part of the Acton Community Education program. They have a web page for this activity. You must sign up through them at 978-266-2525 (Fax: 978-266-2540) in advance. The cost is about $10 per session for a multi-week (perhaps 7 or 8) series of sessions. These are series of sessions for the 2008-2009 season:
From a written announcement about this group:
Do you know what the most popular sport in the world is? Badminton! Come and join us and find out why. You will find that badminton is a fast, fun, and social game that can be played and enjoyed by people of all ages. If you have never played badminton before, you will quickly learn the basics and join others in exciting games. Experienced players as well as beginners will be taught. If you are looking for a great way to have fun while getting in shape and lighting up your Friday nights, this is the place to be. Bring your racquet and we will provide the birdies.
If you have further questions, you can e-mail the club organizer, Harvey Jassal at HJassal@hotmail.com.
